Snowtape 2.0 Available

Ludwigsburg, Germany - September 23, 2009. Vemedio is announcing the availability of Snowtape 2.0. Snowtape is the missing iTunes recording function. The pleasure of internet radio is brought onto the desktop. Recording multiple internet streams in background and automatically downloading song information like title, artist, album cover makes the new version a must-have for every music fan.

Multi-Recording in Background

With Snowtape 2 the user can now record from multiple radio stations in background at once. With the new and vastly improved recording engine it is still easy to start a recording yet it is powerful enough to handle multiple sources simultaneously without slowing down the system performance. This has been accomplished by introducing the „Zero-Reencoding Recording Process“ which allows to record and edit compressed audio.

Recording Schedules

Snowtape 2 also introduces Recording Schedules. The user can program the new recording engine to record at a certain time in the future or to record the favorite weekly show. Snowtape even wakes up the Mac, starts itself and records the show. After it has finished the Mac goes to sleep again.

Professional-grade Editor

The editor has been re-imagined from the ground up. Not only has Vemedio added audio waveforms but also zooming, scrolling and selecting. Extracting individual tracks form a recording is now also possible and in fact very easy, because Snowtape uses Last.fm Audio Fingerprints to identify a song based on the audio samples.

Streaming to Airport Express and Apple TV

Snowtape 2 now fully supports the AirTunes protocol and is able to stream radio and recordings to an Airport Express or an Apple TV. The Apple TV also displays song information like song title, artist and the cover on the big screen. It can even stream to multiple devices at the same time.

Jubilee 1.1 with 30 new Birthday Cards

Ludwigsburg, Germany – June 27, 2010. Vemedio releases Jubilee 1.1, an iPad application that manages the birthday of contacts in the system-wide address book. Jubilee displays birthdays on a convenient calendar pinning the picture of the contact onto the birthday date. With a tap on the picture the user can send lovely designed birthday cards to friends and family.

Jubilee comes with 12 included greeting cards created by various high-class artists. To add more cards constantly Vemedio is teaming up with great artists all over the world who create cards each in a very unique style.

Vemedio announces Jubilee for iPad

Ludwigsburg, Germany – June 1st, 2010. Vemedio has teamed up with Marfil to announce Jubilee a new application solely developed for the Apple iPad. Jubilee for iPad manages the birthday of contacts in the system-wide address book.

“Me, I wanted a simple and elegant way to not constantly forget birthdays of my family and friends.”, says Martin Hering, founder of Vemedio, “and I feel that we have just found the right package.”

Contacts are displayed on a calendar with their respective picture. New contacts can be added and existing ones can be edited. Jubilee has 12 lovely designed built-in templates for greeting cards the user can choose from to send via email. The user can also add a personal touch by signing the card using with one finger.

Making use of the integrated push notification service Jubilee can remind one of a birthday without even launching the application. Jubilee fully supports synching via iTunes and Mobile.me and always stays in sync with the Contacts and the Calendar app.

Snowtape 1.5 with new Online Radio Catalog

The pleasure of online-radio is brought onto the desktop and can record the transmission. Automatically song information like title, artist, album cover are sought out on the internet. The recordings can be processed later and directly transmitted to iTunes.

New Online Radio Catalog
The new now in Snowtape integrated radio catalog offers a multitude of radio stations. The user can search by popularity, genre or country and hear radio stations directly, import them or share with friends by email or twitter. The user can further add his own radio stations and publish the catalog under a nickname. The editors check the catalog regularily and thus garantee the up-to-date status and availability.

AirTunes with Airport Express
Snowtape not only makes it possible to hear radio on your desktop, but also through AirTunes - known through iTunes - to transmit the radio signal wireless to one or more Airport express stations and thus to detached loudspeakers. The detached loudspeakers are found automatically in the network and can be chosen through the program menu by the user. After the optional password entry the output of the radio signal is put out parallel to the computer sound to the detached loudspeakers.

Snowtape 1.3 adds Windows Media Technology

Ludwigsburg, Germany – October 22nd, 2009. Today Vemedio releases a major improvement update to Snowtape, the easiest and most intuitive software for recording internet radio. Snowtape enables the user to quickly find and record his or her favorite music, add album artwork and export it right into iTunes.

“With the integration of Windows Media technology, we are bringing a whole new universe of radio stations to Snowtape.”, says Martin Hering, founder of Vemedio. “There are no limits anymore. Snowtape now supports every major audio streaming technology. Our users will love it.”

Windows Media Support
The new version adds support for Windows Media streaming technology and thus now supports radio stations like the BBC and NRJ Radio. Users can enjoy their favorite radio program without the need of installing addional plugins like Flip4Mac. Snowtape supports the MMS and the MMS over HTTP protocol as well as ASX and WSX playlist files.

Internet Browser Integration
Snowtape comes with the option of installing the RadioURL browser plugin that can serve as a replacement for Flip4Mac. It seamlessly integrates Snowtape with the Website of the radio provider and forwards the streams directly to Snowtape. The user does not need to configure anything.

Direct Export to MP3
In addition to exporting to AAC the user can now export directly to the MP3 format. Album artwork and track titles are automatically exported as ID3v2 tags and get incorporated directly into the audio track.

Vemedio announces SnowRemote 1.0 and Snowtape 1.2

Vemedio today releases its first application for iPhone and iPod Touch called SnowRemote and with it a new update to its much complimented radio software Snowtape. SnowRemote enables the user to remote control Snowtape wirelessly within his local home network.

“With our new companion product SnowRemote, we are bringing the joy and ease-of-use of Snowtape to every iPhone and iPod Touch owner.”, says Martin Hering, founder of Vemedio. “SnowRemote is the next logical step in our philosophy to simplify internet radio and make it accessible to everybody.”

SnowRemote syncs wirelessly with the brand new version 1.2 of Snowtape using a configuration interface that everybody is familiar with. It enables the user to quickly browse through hundreds of radio stations, search using genres and countries, search by keywords and remotely mark stations as favorite.

The integrated playback controller allows for changing play/pause and quickly start and stop recording the program as well as changing the playback volume. It also displays current album artwork if available.

The new version of Snowtape features an improved search algorithm for album artwork, a better handling of deleted items and a search for stations by country. There are now over 1000 high quality radio stations available.

Vemedio announces Snowtape 1.1

Ludwigsburg, Germany – June 25h, 2009. Vemedio today release the first major improvement update to Snowtape, the easiest and most intuitive software for recording internet radio. Snowtape enables the user to quickly find and record his or her favorite music, add album artwork and exports it right into iTunes.

“Snowtape is becoming a huge success for us.”, says Martin Hering, founder of Vemedio. “And with the new version we show once again that Snowtape is number one in its segment for user experience and ease of use”.

Version 1.1 now integrates an Online Radio Directory and automatically downloads new radio stations once they are available. Over 750 radio stations has been added so far and much more will be available soon.

What has been good now gets even better with the revamped user interface for radio stations and audio tracks. Radio stations are now much more easy to spot. The cover view for audio tracks can now be scaled and better focuses on the album artwork itself rather than on visual goodies.

A new preference panel makes room for much more options, like automatically deleting commercials or relocating the database folder.

Snowtape also now tightly integrates into Spotlight. Users can search for a radio station to play from anywhere thoughout the system. Upon selection Snowtape will start playing the station right away.

We also added full compatibility with the upcoming Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Snowtape provides a rich user interface with beautiful crafted graphics and enables the user to search, sort and organize radio stations and recorded audio tracks.

With its high-performance database, Snowtape is able to store thousands of radio stations. Users can search for a particular station add it to the list and sort e.g. genre and bandwidth. They can also be marked as favorites. Snowtape is able to cut the recordings at audio track boundaries automatically and identifies potential commercials or interludes. With the built-in track editor users can cut out any interfering audio.

When exporting to iTunes the audio track is encoded to high quality AAC audio and saved right onto an iTunes playlist. Album artwork and track titles are automatically exported as iTunes audio tags and get incorporated directly into the audio track during export.

Album Art and Addional Track Information
In most cases, Snowtape can download song metadata and album artwork automatically. Alternatively, a "Get Album Artwork" button searches the internet for available album artwork and presents it to the user for easy selection.

Ease-of-use
Snowtape provides a user interface that is quite similar to iTunes but with a new and unique look-and-feel. Resembling the interface of a hardware based recording device, Snowtape really makes recording audio fun, while always displaying only information that is relevant to the current task.

RadioURL.com web service
Snowtape includes support for the RadioURL.com webservice. RadioURL is a service for shortening long radio stream URLs which can be sent via e-mail and posted in blogs and on Twitter.

Snowtape can import .PLS and .M3U internet playlist files as well as .Webloc URL files. Users can also provide Snowtape playlist or stream URLs. It checks every URL and only imports those that work. Furthermore, Snowtape also understands media coming directly from iTunes. This means users can easily import a radio station onto Snowtape by dragging them over from the iTunes radio list. Album Art and Addional Track Information Vemedio partners with Last.fm to give users the bonus of album artwork and additional album metadata. In most cases, Snowtape can download this information automatically. Alternatively, a "Get Album Info" button searches and adds any album info and cover artwork available.
