How to become an Instacast pro?

You want to become and Instacast pro user and want to know any small trick? This article accumulates small tricks that make using Instacast faster and more effective. Make sure to revisit this article from time to time as we update it regularly.

Quickly Marking an Episode as Played

Swipe over any episode from left to right and toggle the played/unplayed marker of the respective episode.

Quickly Marking an Episode as Starred

Swipe over any episode from right to left and toggle the starred/unstarred marker of the respective episode.

Quickly Start Playback of an Episode

Tap on an episode and hold your finger for 1 second. Playback will start accordingly.

Pausing Downloads

If you want to pause a download and restart it later, swipe over the download from left to right. The cancel button changes to a pause button. Tap on the pause button and the button changes to a resume button. Swipe again to show the cancel button again.

Show Playback Options

In the podcast player double-tap on the podcast image or on the video to toggle showing playback options. Playback options are: Audio Speed Control (1/2x, 1x, 2x), Volume Control and Audio AirPlay.

Sort Subscriptions Alphabetically

In the list of podcast subscriptions tap on the 'Edit' button. In the upper right corner a sort button appears. Tap on it to sort the subscription alphabetically. Tap again to toggle the sort order to ascending or descending.

Import Subscriptions via Email

You can send yourself an OPML file to yourself containing podcast subscriptions. In Mail, if you tap on the OPML file attachment and choose 'Open with...', you can open this file with Instacast. Instacast then subscribes to all of the contained podcast URLs. Read this article to about how to create an OPML file with iTunes.
